Title: Dean Koontz News

ladiibbug - April 22, 2007 08:31 PM (GMT)
Click on What's New for DK news. I was looking for a release date for Frankenstein Book 3, but I see nothing ... DK is busy as always, but I *really* want to get my hands on the final book in his Frank series  .

I saw Darkfall, one of his older books re-released & on the bookstore shelf - it's one of my favorite Koontz books!

Has anyone read The Husband? Any comments?

Dead and Alive: Book 3 (Dean Koontz's Frankenstein) comes out May 21, 2007 in the UK. No scheduled release date here in the US yet. :(

I listened to The Husband on audio and enjoyed it. Fairly standard as far as a Koontz plot (couple in love, running away/towards, semi-supernatural bad-guy), but with some twists that I didn't expect and of course the characters are always so well developed.

I read 'The Husband' and it was okay. I was a bit dissapointed in the ending, but it was not horrible. Just not one of his greatest.

I "recently" got into Dean Koontz and I have a few questions...

1. Did he write a sequel to 'By the Light of the Moon' or has anyone heard if he plans to? I really enjoyed that one and would love to hear more about those characters.

2. Is there a date or news for the third book in his Christopher Snow series? I'm finishing Seize the Night right now :-)

3. He's written *so* very much. Does anyone have a recommendation regarding the best of his books, or the worst? So far I've been reading whatever I can find on audiobook, but there's a big book sale coming up here and it'd be great to keep my eyes open for a few.

THANKS!

I've been reading him for a long time! We had his books in the school library when I was at a high school in the next county (surprised nobody fussed; they made me censor the Jean Auel series!).

Anyway, my favorites are Ticktock (wonderful hero!), From the Corner of His Eye (really cool villain!), and Cold Fire (most-romantic-couple-in-a-thriller award).

Some I didn't like as much are The Door to December (horrific child abuse)and The Taking (weird religious symbolism).

I don't remember the title, but someone else here probably does -- the one about the woman whose evil psychiatrist was hypnotizing her with poetry was fabulous, and truly scary.

My son said to tell you that his favorites are Phantoms and One Door Away From Heaven.

Thank you Megi53! *makes notes*

The only one on your list I've read/listened to was 'From the Corner of His Eye' and that was truly incredible and disturbing (getting into a murderer's head like that was intense & creepy, but very interesting!). It was quite an experience to read it. It was also about as much religion as I can take... so I'll avoid The Taking.

I really like his romantic characters in general (not too overly sweet, not too bland either) like those in Icebound and Fear Nothing... I'll definitely try to track down Cold Fire :-)

Thank you and your son for the recs & warnings!

I like most of Dean's books. However I was *extremly* disappointed with his book "Life Expectancy". I expected some scares and most of it was just dull *supposed-to-be* humorous diatribe. Did anyone feel that way about it?

Hmmm... Life Expectancy was one of my favorites actually. That was the one with the clown, right?

Megi, the other one you were thinking of, with the psychiatrist and poetry, is False Memory.

Some of my Koontz reviews, including both Life Expectancy and False Memory can be found here: http://cheriepie.blogspot.com/search?q=koontz

Yes it was with the clown one. I have to admit that the opening chapters in the hospital were chilling though. I'll check out your blog soon.

Awww thank you! I am prone to posting the nicer pictures of myself of course, though others are not always as kind.

For instance, check out the Many faces of CheriePie that EllyMae posted of me while we were at the Convention last week, for some of the funny or not-so-pretty faces! :whip:

Yes she is pretty.
I don't post pictures of myself because none of the few I have look good to me. Yes low self esteem here but some of it's due to my weight.

I really enjoyed 'Life Expectancy' as well.

'Watchers's one of my favorites.
'Twilight Eyes' was very good.
'Odd Thomas' was great but 'Forever Odd' was a disappointment. I have 'Brother Odd' but have not read it yet.

He has written so many books it is hard to remember what is what. I have been reading his books for years.

I did not realize that he had written quite a bit of Science Fiction in the beginning. Would love to get my hands on some of them though.
