Title: Newbie question
Description: How do things work here?

VeganMedusa - April 21, 2007 09:29 PM (GMT)
I just discovered this site and just want to make sure that I understand how it works (if there are FAQ then point me to them, please).
So this site is an off-shoot of Bookcrossing, and all the books that we're talking about here (swaps, relays, rings/rays, etc) are bookcrossing-labelled books? And everyone on here is also a bookcrosser?
Um, anything else relevant that I need to know?
Thanks! :waves:

True true true!

We are all bookcrossers and send around bookcrossing books. We use our bookcrossing names on here too, with a few minor exceptions (AmericanMuse goes by Musie on here I think, for example).

There are lots of fun things to do on this site - virtual book boxes, relays, swaps, chat about everything and nothing, encourage others to indulge their bookbuying habits...

So glad you found us and joined!

Thank you, and congrats on the impending arrival!

Hi VeganMedusa :waves: welcome to the site :D And it's an International site like BC

I'm new here too and I found the important topics on the swap section (right on top) to be very informative.
Haven't tried any swaps yet though, I have to find a good book in english first

Welcome Vegan Medusa :D

Thank you cheesygiraffe ^_^

Welcome both of you. One of the best ways to find out how things work is just to jump in, feet first! Everyone on here will be more than happy to explain things as you go.

Thank you camis. I went to the second hand bookstore yesterday and got a novel I think could be of interest. I am now in a few busy weeks at the university, so I will wait a bit before jumping in! Besides, I want to read it first to see if it really is as good as it sounds. :P

giz-angel - April 26, 2007 05:45 PM (GMT)
See you are starting well Balckteiwaz, not ending up owing loads of to be reads like us!

Sunlightbub - April 26, 2007 10:18 PM (GMT)
:waves: at the new guys

If swaps seem confusing just jump in!! I lurked for ages before joining one as I had no clue what was going on ( Fairly normal state of affairs for me actually  ) but once you start playing it all makes sense!! :D

P.S. Very impressed you ony got one book from the USB - It'll never last

blackteiwaz - April 29, 2007 09:51 PM (GMT)
Well, I had at least five in my hands, but only money for one
I know it won't last, good thing I have tests and papers to hand out at the university, that means little time for entertainment reading, wich will give me the illusion that it lasted long  Does that make sense?

VeganMedusa - May 2, 2007 02:38 AM (GMT)
Thanks everyone.
And thanks Sunlightbub - I've been staying away from swaps because I can't understand it at all, I need a help page for understanding the help page! Maybe I'll get brave enough to jump in one day.
For now though, I love the relays!
