I got one this month - Damage Control by Emma Forrest!
Damage Control
It is not right to hold nationalities to broad characteristics (the French are rude, Swedes are nymphos). That said, all bikini waxers are insane and all manicurists are judging you. You are quite right to think your body is appalling to the teenage girl applying your spray tan. It is.
At least to hear it from the darkly comic short stories and essays in Damage Control. In these pages, an eclectic selection of clever women — Jennifer Belle, Eve Ensler, Marian Keyes, Minnie Driver and Rose McGowan to name a few — write about the people that enable us professional, middle class, semi-affluents or spenders-above-means to live lives of such amazing procrastination. Think of all you could be doing instead of being tweezed, bleached, blown out, dyed, and manicured.
The modern woman would relish a book that delves into who these people are, what they mean to us, and what these often profoundly intimate sessions teach us about ourselves.
